The Windsor Farm Shop received global attention when Kate and William snuck a visit from their home, Adelaide Cottage, a short walk away in March, 2024. What was previously mostly a local treasure was launched as a tourist destination.

If your plans in Windsor include a visit to that, “Place where Kate went”, here’s what to expect.

The Shop’s Origins

The late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, known for his passion for agriculture and conservation, and official Ranger of the Great Park, actively promoted sustainable farming practices. In 2001, he envisioned a place to showcase high-quality produce and goods sourced directly from the Royal Estates and created the store using Victorian potting sheds. It’s now extended to purpose built buildings, but the rustic charm remains.

Prince Philip’s  involvement in the Windsor Farm Shop reflected his commitment to supporting local suppliers. He promoted sustainable agriculture, and making the products of the Royal Estates accessible to the public.
